Cultural session on the Riviera: Modern art and way of life in Provence

Enjoy more of the French Riviera's culture!!!

You can combine two workshops or choose a Provencal package of 3 cultural sessions.

 
Guided tours are organized for great places where famous artists (Renoir, Picasso, Chagall, etc...) have lived and developed their artistic creations. You are also invited to learn more about local vineyards and the French art of fine cuisine.

Morning French courses
Mornings will be dedicated to your French lessons:
• 20 lessons x 45 min per week from 8.45 to 12 noon
• A maximum of 12 students per class.
• Varied tools will be used, such as: comic strips, newspaper articles, video...

Afternoon and evening activities:
You will enjoy communicating in French during afternoon and evenings activities.
The workshop will have a weekly total of just over 17 hours.

 

Your schedule for 2 weeks

WEEK 1
DAY AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS
Monday: Assessment test
Tuesday: Visit to Cannes: discover the splendour of 'la Belle Epoque' (the early 20th cenntury). A gallery visit followed by an audience with a French sculptor.
You will go around Cannes and admire the buildings which give such a particular style to this small town of the newlyborn French Riviera. The visit will end with a workshop on contemporary creations.
Wednesday: Visit to Nice: follow in the footsteps of Matisse.
The light of the French Riviera attracted Matisse. His arrival in Nice coincided with the splendours of 'La Belle Époque'. Your visit of Nice will finish with a visit of the Matisse Museum.
Thursday: Visit to Antibes: follow the Picasso trail. Visit the Piccasso museum and the old town of Antibes
Picasso chose Antibes and Vallauris to continue to explore shapes and materials. The visit of the old town of Antibes with its 3000 years of Mediterranean history and the visit to the Picasso museum will help you to understand and enjoy Picasso's world.
Friday: 4 to 10pm: Master cooking lesson, followed by a provençal menu created by the team.
Saturday: Visit to Menton, a town built in the Baroque style, followed by a visit to the seaside village of Sainte Agnès.
The discovery of religious Baroque art and Italian influences will be carried out in one day in Menton. This town of gardens at the Italian border used to be the capital of citrus fruit, which made Menton famous. A detour to the fortified village of Saint Agnès will give you the opportunity to discover one of the most beautiful locations on the French Riviera.
Sunday: FREE DAY
WEEK 2
DAY AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS
Monday: Visit to Saint Paul de Vence and the Maeght Foundation following in Miro's and Giacometti's footsteps, followed by a meeting with an artist.
Saint Paul was chosen as a meeting point by many artists. It is in this Provencal village overlooking the coast that the famous gallery owner Aimé Maeght decided to set up his foundation. Plenty of galleries are hidden away in the village of Saint Paul.
Tuesday: Visit to Cagnes, a medieval village, follow in Auguste Renoir's footsteps by visiting Renoir's home and workroom; the day will finish with a tour of the village and the castle.
Auguste Renoir chose to set up his workroom on a hill of age-old olive trees, opposite the village and the medieval castle of Haut de Cagnes. The visit of Renoir's property will help you to understand and enjoy his world. We will then visit the village which has managed to retain its authenticity.
Wednesday: Visit to Nice, follow in Chagall's footsteps, visit his museum which is inspired by the biblical message. After which you will visit the old town.
The light of the French Riviera also attracted another famous painter Chagall. The Chagall museum is devoted to his works that are inspired by a biblical message. 'In Chagall's footsteps' will introduce you to religious art, will enable you to go back to the old town of Nice and to find out more about sacred art and the splendours of Baroque art.
Thursday: FREE DAY
Friday: Tasting of local products and wine.
Saturday: Departure
