Cultural session on the Riviera: Fragrance, colour and flavour in Provence

Enjoy more of the French Riviera's culture!!!

You can combine two workshops or choose a Provencal package of 3 cultural sessions.

 
You are instructed on how to create your own perfume in the city of Grasse, able to indulge in a spot of painting at the foot of the Picasso museum, create your own flower arrangements, cook a full Provençal menu and... refine your image with the art of make-up.

Morning French courses
Mornings will be dedicated to your French lessons:
• 20 lessons x 45 min per week from 8.45 to 12 noon
• A maximum of 12 students per class.
• Varied tools will be used, such as: comic strips, newspaper articles, video...

Afternoon and evening activities:
You will enjoy communicating in French during afternoon and evenings activities.
The workshop will have a weekly total of just over 17 hours.

 

Your schedule for 2 weeks

WEEK 1
DAY AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS
Monday: Assessment test
Tuesday: Drawing and painting workshop: Let's draw, let's paint ! (3h)
This workshop is divided into 3 sessions, each 3 hours long. According to their level, students will create their own 'work of art' under the guidance of a qualified art teacher. If the weather permits, two sessions will take place in the old town of Antibes.
Wednesday: Perfume. Visit Grasse the perfume capital of the world, followed by a perfume workshop where you will create a new fragrance under the guidence of a professional perfumer.
In the laboratory of the famous perfumer Gallimard, you will learn how to make your own perfume from scratch under the guidance of a professional. The 100 ml perfume bottle will then be yours to keep!
Thursday: Karine's secrets: 'hand and nail care' (3h)
2 sessions of 3 hours each with Karine, a qualified beautician. She will explain how to take care of your hands. Each session is divided into two parts. First you will be invited to understand and listen to her beauty secrets, then you will put her advice into practice.
Friday: 4 to 10pm: Master cooking lesson, followed by a provençal menu created by the team.
Saturday: 8.30am / 2.30pm: 'From the market to the plate', Jeannine's recipes including cooking lessons and the tasting of 'Provencal specialties', and advice for choosing the correct wine and cheese for specific dishes.
On Saturday morning, after going to the market with Jeannine, you will create a typically Provencal menu. You will then enjoy the wine of your choice. You have 6 hours to understand how the French prepare and enjoy their cooking (how they select the products from the market, how they make and balance their menus according to the season, how they choose their wine, cheese and Provencal dishes). This pleasant friendly moment will bring to an end the week, but at the same time enhance your French.
Sunday: FREE DAY
WEEK 2
DAY AFTERNOONS/EVENINGS
Monday: Botanical workshop: 'Herbs and plants from Provence'. Their different roles with regards to health, cooking and decoration.
After identifying several plants found in our region, we will study their different roles as regards to health, cooking and decoration. The discovery of essential oils will bring to an end this workshop.
Tuesday: Drawing and painting workshop: Let's draw, let's paint ! (3h)
This workshop is divided into 3 sessions, each 3 hours long. According to their level, students will create their own 'work of art' under the guidance of a qualified art teacher. If the weather permits, two sessions will take place in the old town of Antibes.

Thursday: FREE DAY
Friday: Life in a French family. Let's have a coffee or a cup of tea at Mme Sanouillet's. (2h)
You will enjoy the evening aperitif at the Sanouillets', an old family from Antibes. You will be given the opportunity to understand more on how the French live. You will get a description and a tour of their home: what the lodging looks like, the structure and functions of the private and shared spaces. The furniture tells us a story : you will learn about the history of the family, through a few objects and pieces of furniture.
